Is cootes sketchy?
Ok so here's the thing. I need to get some nature shots for a photography contest, and I live in res, so I figure exploring cootes paradise, as it's right next door, would be my best option. But I've been told it's kinda sketch, so I'm wary. I'd drag a friend along, but honestly it won't be much fun with me on the prowl for shots lol. So is it a bad idea for me to go wandering by myself?

People have a tendency to fall easily into the "Hamilton is sketchy" mentality. From my experience, Hamilton is no more sketchy than many similar sized cities. Don't get me wrong, I've seen some... interesting things here. But I've seen the same and worse in Toronto and London.

I used to go on walks there sometimes when I lived in Brandon and never noticed anything sketchy about it.

I've been in there, off trail, at 3am without a flashlight before.
(Then there was that other time I was in there, off trail, at 3am, and wasted... But I had a flashlight then)
I'm still alive. You'll be fine.

Unless you have an aversion to deer or stoners, you'll be fine.

Just don't feed the racoons past midnight... and most importantly, don't let them near the water...

Also remember not to feed the stoners... otherwise they'll follow you home and set up a drum circle in your room.

If you really feel weird about it, then you should take your friend with you... and let them play on their gameboy, err DS, err iPhone or something to keep themselves entertained. Then if you feel fine, you can go out alone the next time.

Just avoid any random wild bush parties and you'll likely be fine. I've never heard cootes referred to as sketch before...

Ah.... Got to love Kitchener. We had one forest by my school that a naked man like to hang out in when I was in grade 3&4. We also had another that had a couple of dead bodies turn up in but I think that was more rumor than real.
