Yes, you can take any course whenever you want as long as you meet the prerequisites.

Edit: You should note that most programs only allow you to take 48 Level I units though.

what year are you in? How did you manage to get a chinese course in there? Is it avaliable to a first year life sci student?

yeah it is. first time it's offered at mac? im in math and stats btw.. i had liek 5 electives...i hear life sci has only like 2 electives so it might conflict i guess.

wait... ma frds are telling me something about you can't take this course if ur parents speaks that language or something like that....?

It doesn't matter if your parents can speak it or not. It's if you are able to speak and write the language.
