What Counts as LOCAL CALLS?
Hey,
This may seem like a stupid question, and I have Rogers and Vonage to thank for that - I've never had to worry about this before ...
Im from Brampton, so my area code is 905...the rezphones are also 905 area codes, I believe, but on some phone providers it would still be a long-distance call from Brampton to Hamilton, even though it's the same area code (I've heard of this happening before, even from Brampton to Scarborough)...
Does anyone know if it IS a long-distance call from Hamilton to Brampton/Mississauga (so from 905 to 905/416, no matter the distance?)? If it helps, I think that the rezphones are on a Bell network? Correct me if im wrong...

Brampton and Mississauga are long distance, despite being 905.
You're lucky if Oakville counts as a local call. Your best bet though is anything as far as Burlington (so same radius around) from Hamilton counts as a local call.
Buy a phone card that expires every couple of months and you should be good.
OR if you want to call home often, use Skype instead.

905 calling 905 area codes

okay cell phones are a huge hassle. there is a long distance fee. But if your in residence your parents can call you through your residence phone and it'll charge you according to your home phone plan. You can change your cell phone number to an oakville number to avoid long distance cell phone fees or you can talk to housing services set up a plan for your residence room phone...
we Canadians pay way to much for our cellphones....

Generally I think anything more than a city/town away even in the same area code is long distance.
I live in Caledon with a 905 number, and all my family in Mississauga (Oakville too) is long distance, but my friends in Brampton aren't. When I'm in Hamilton Mississauga, Oakville, Brampton and Caledon are all long distance.

Oakville is definitely long distance.
Just because it's 905 to 905, it doesn't mean that it's local. the 905 area code is huge.
If you make a lot of long distance calls to certain numbers, you might want to get my5.

It's under anyone else's post other than your own. I thought you meant you wanted to "Say Thanks" to another person's post =O
