Course Conflict??
HELP!! Im going into second year and I decided that I want to complete a cognitive science of language degree. This means I'm pretty behind on courses and have to take a bunch of first year courses. I need LINGUISTICS 1A03 and 1AA3 as well as PSYCH 1X03 and 1XX3. The problem is that in order to take PSYCH 1XX3 I need BIO 1P03. However, BIO 1P03 conflicts with LINGUISTICS 1A03.....

So what can I do? Both courses are in Term 1 and only have one core option. Any first year who did not take grade 12 biology will be in the same situation if they want to complete this degree. I have no idea what to do and I don't want to be any more behind.

I thought about doing the linguistics credit at another school through the LOP form or whatever.. But I don't really understand it. Are the classes online?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

Sounds like you're trying to cram a bunch of first year courses in at once.

If you have two courses that are conflicting but you NEED them to continue in your program and are a requirement for your degree, then you can request special arrangements. Contact your Faculty first. They'll know what to do for this special circumstance.

Your faculty's phone number will be on the Contact page of your Faculty website on McMaster.ca
