Course Dropping Question
Hi,

I am in first year life science

So far, I was doing okay..... I was getting over 90 for bio, chem, math , and kin.......

Life was good.......UNTIL..... .....I saw my phychology midterm mark !!!!!!!!

I saw it, and I immediately decided to drop it...:0

So.......here is the questions

1. they say tomorrow is the last day to drop without failure....

What the H does that mean? without failure??

So, if i drop it by tomorrow, does it not remain on my record as drop?

should I have dropped it earlier?

2. As you know, psy 1x03 is connected with 1xx3.

If I drop 1x03 (which I am taking now), I have to drop 1xx3 too, right?

but I don't want to have spare in term 2

SO, can I apply for the course in term 2 to fill that spare space from 1xx3?

3. If i drop 1xo3, and 1xx3, am i no longer a full time student?

SO, does it mean that I cannot go to level II programs?????

Because I took psychology as a elective.......

The question is,. Can I take some course in summer school, so that I can take Level II programs in next year?

Please answer this quickly

Thanks

Ok, if you drop after Nov 7th it is a default F so you automtically get a 0 in the course regardless. 2nd you cannot take psych 1xx3 if you do not have psych 1x03. 3rd you are still a full time student but you will not be able to apply for any 2nd year program. Assuming you do not add anymore courses and stick with 24 units, you will be BSC II next school term which is Science year 2. If you take 2 courses in the summer and make up your 30 units you can apply to 2nd year programs after you complete the courses. The fact is programs you want to get into might be full already, thats a risk you must take. You best talk to an academic advisor tomorrow and get this cleared out they can offer you the most help.

GoodLuck!!

Edit: Hope this has helped!!

1. they say tomorrow is the last day to drop without failure....

What the H does that mean? without failure??

So, if i drop it by tomorrow, does it not remain on my record as drop?

should I have dropped it earlier?

When you drop right now, the course will stay on your transcript with "CANC" or something like that. But if you drop it after the deadline, it is an automatic failure by default. (not a good thing). ~ Info given from my advisor.

2. As you know, psy 1x03 is connected with 1xx3.

If I drop 1x03 (which I am taking now), I have to drop 1xx3 too, right?

but I don't want to have spare in term 2

SO, can I apply for the course in term 2 to fill that spare space from 1xx3?

Well, on the course calendar, it says 1x03 is a requirement, so you won't be able to register into it if you drop the prerequisite.

3. If i drop 1xo3, and 1xx3, am i no longer a full time student?

I'm pretty sure full-time status is 24 - 30units

SO, does it mean that I cannot go to level II programs?????

Depends on the requirements for the next level. For commerce, I am required to take 30 units to move to the next level. You should check your program details or talk with your advisor.

The question is,. Can I take some course in summer school, so that I can take Level II programs in next year?

For commerce again, we are able to take summer courses to fulfill the requirements.

These problems should be directed to your faculty's advisor to be fully sure.
