Courses Help
Can someone please review or give more information on Earth sci 2C03 (arain), 3EE3 (padden), or Earth Sci 4EA3 (padden)? If anyone can share whatever they know about any of these courses and/or the profs that would be helpful

Earth Sc 2C03 would be pretty boring as well as challenging if you do not havea background in environmental science or biology, I wouldn't reccommend it unless you are really interested in climate. Arain is an ok teacher but is pretty hard to understand and basically just reads his lecture slides. Padden is a great prof! She's very enthusiastic and tries to engage the class. I haven't taken 3EE3 or 4EA3, but am planning on taking them both at some point in the next 2 years. If you did well in 2EI3 and would be prepared for a heavier work load than take 4EA3. If not 3EE3 would be the better choice.

I can second Padden's awesome. FYI- She was due (for birth) around this time! I don't know if she had her baby yet, but it was exciting. I am not sure, as a result, if she will be taking a year off next year. I have heard nothing, just speculating.

Thanks for the reply. Ive taken a few enviro courses, in which case
how difficult was Earth Sci 2C03 - would it be 12-able? How were the labs? Does anyone know how easy 4EA3 or 3EE3 are? Thanks!

I don't think 2C03 would be an easy mark and it may be possible to get a 12 in it but it is not very likely. When I took it last year the average on the midterm was a 60 something and it was worth as much as the labs so it brought everyone way down. It also has a 60 percent final exam that is 5 long answer questions worth 20 marks each. Basically only 10 percent of the course was tested so if you knew that 10 percent you did well and if you didnt you were screwed. 3/4 of the labs were difficult with 2 being very time consuming and very confusing. I would reccommend staying away from this class, and thats coming from someone who got an 11 in it, its not worth it at all.
As for Padden she is pregnant and due soon I think, but they have her scheduled to teach several courses so I am assuming they have already talked to her about it.
If you are going for a 12 I would say pick 3EE3, that's what I am doing anyway.

deone says thanks to sf for this post.
