Creating Timtable For first year- How do you think i should space my courses out?
Do you think i should try and leave an hour break between every class everyday?
OR
Do you think i should just put my classes all together such that they are one after the other with a one hour break for lunch?

What do you think would be better?

Thanks!

breaks would be a good idea

so that u have a window to beath, relax or do something else. Classes back to back can really get u bogged down. U wont really be able to pay attention to the prof. Also it wouldn't hurt to eat lunch and hour earlier or later

Im pretty sure u will have breaks that u can avoid, the worse case is 2 or 3 class back to back.

sometimes breaks can be as long as 4 to 5 hours!!! Hated second year, esply when ur commuting!

glad i could help

btw, there is a 'say thanks" button, which u can use if ur too lazy to type Thank you (Which i do quite often coz typing takes too much effort!!! LOL)

btw, check the TT generator http://www.timetablegenerato r.com/ made by an MI user. This should help u plan wht ur TT should look like and where u have 'BREAKS' btw it only works on Google CHROME!

I personally don't like scheduling breaks in between each class. My ideal schedule would be something like:

9:30-12:30 class
12:30-1:30 break
1:30-?? class

I'm a morning person though and like to have all of my classes for the day finished by 5:30 if all possible so then I can go home and eat dinner afterwards. Whenever I have 1 h breaks in between classes I don't do any productive, I just end up killing time on facebook/youtube/reddit.

Oooooo :S i was kinda like that like during highschool (which was ONLY an hour break tho) but like even when id skip classes during the day as we weren't doing anything in class (like watching a movie or just nothing at all) i dont think i was productive at all

And yeah i dont wanna stay in school late like after 5 30 that just would get tiring.

Thanks for your input x) now i gotta think about this ..... :/

I'd say no to the one hour breaks between. They can get really annoying.

I prefer 2-3 classes then a break.

I actually don't mind 2-3 classes although 3+ is too much. Unless you actually follow through on studying during your breaks, they end up being a waste of time... too short to go home/rez and no work gets done in my case. One lunch break might be okay for you though, if your classes are around that time.

I would only schedule a one-hour break if I had a lab or tutorial which requires participation after, so that you can get any necessary items during the break and to mentally prepare yourself since they're different from just listening to lectures.

I found I very much enjoy having 3 or 4 classes in a row, since I found how tired you are more depends on the prof more than the amount of classes you had in a row. Good profs = you being awake no matter when it happens/ how many in a row

I had 12 hours of class in one day where i had a one hour lunch break and a 40 min break before my night class (class from 8am->10pm) and I found they were not overly exhausting despite the classes being hard, just because the profs were good.

Also, if you do schedule my classes back to back, some profs you may have are horrible teachers, so in the end you may decide to study for that class if you skip it (that is what I did) as long as you stay diligent and don't spend that newly freed up time on facebook or here

I definitely would not try to schedule an hour break between each class. For one, you can't do very much on them, and for another, they'll needlessly double the length of your day.
Also, I very much doubt you will be able to schedule that.

You're overestimating the amount of control you will have over modifying your timetable. I think it's a bit easier in first year because not everybody knows that you can, but still...many sections will be full or will conflict with other things, some courses only have sections at inconvenient times, etc. Be prepared for a less-than-ideal schedule.
