Dean's List Questions
I have 2 questions:
1. Since I overloaded (33 units), does it count the best 10 courses or all 11 courses?
2. What does being on Dean's list do? Do you get any scholarships or something?
Thanks!

2. I am not sure what GPA you need to be on the deans list, but there are scholarships for each faculty and scholarships that everyone from mac can apply to.
Sorry, can't help you with the first one.

To be on the Deans Honour List, you need to have a sessional average of at least 9.5 or higher. If you overloaded and took 33 units I'm not sure how they determine what your sessional average with 30 units would be. You could perhaps send your academic advisor an e-mail? To be on the DHL itself doesn't come with any monetary rewards (i.e. scholarships) but if your sessional average is greater than or equal to 9.5 you are eligible for several scholarships. For some, you must apply for, and for some you don't need to apply for since you're taken care of automatically. It's usually the people with the highest averages 11.0+ who tend to get those scholarships though. It varies year to year though to say the least.
EDIT:
I've heard you get to attend some ceremony thing where they give you your certificate. If you don't attend they simply mail it to your mailing address.

1. They will count all 11 when calculating your sessional and cumulative GPAs.

I doubt there is a ceremony for Dean's List, there would be far too many possible attendees. And I haven't received anything related to the Dean's List in the mail.
Edit: Why did you report his post, he didn't say anything wrong..

The commerce faculty had a ceremony and a certificate is sent given. I guess it's more feasible because the averages are a lot lower in commerce and well fewer people make the list.

I think he's referring to people in the Commerce program who attained a SA of 9.5 who then made the DHL. For the DHL, they received their certificate (obvious) and got to attend a ceremony. O_o I think.

What's the difference between Dean's List and getting a 9.5? I thought those who get a 9.5 immediately make the Dean's Honor List?
The in-course awards make sense though. I thought there would only be a ceremony for in-course + Provost, which makes more sense to me.
