You shouldn't complain about approximately the same dollar amount results in more hours of lectures, tutorials, etc. lol
So yes, it's not fair to them.

Unfortunately lectures taught by abysmal instructors don't actually help, making that extra "dollar value" worthless for us.
And yes, it sucks. McMaster is notorious for giving as short a break as humanly possible. Nothing you can do about it.

Not all professors are abysmal.

I'm actually tempted to transfer to another university for this very reason.

This reminds me of this : http://www.macinsiders.com/showthrea...ter-25264.html
..No matter how much any of us complain, it won't change. And honestly, I don't mind it anymore, that week or so won't really make a difference in my opinion..

I think it's probably better academically and mentally that these kinds of breaks are shorter. You're gonna be out of it in four weeks. Two weeks is sufficient as a break, you get to celebrate Christmas and New Years, do you really want to delay school anymore than that. Especially since you're choosing to go anyway.

consider the fact that bad profs will teach even worse if they have to cram the same content in less time

But don't final exams for Term 2 end later for those in other universities? My cousin (UoT) said that theirs always ended AFTER people from Mac were on break. Earlier summer, yay?

I'd rather a later summer than a shorter Christmas break.

personally i don't mind the break only being like 12 days, basically most of the holiday is spent worrying about how good/bad you did on your exams, or sulking if you found out you did bad then comes the burning passion to go back to 2nd term and ace all the courses to make up for it. besides the longer your exam period the more time u have to study for your exams...i would take that over an extra day of break.
