Degree Audit
I just had a few questions about the Degree Audit. I'm pretty confused and any help would be appreciated! I'm in MedRadSci year 2 Radiation Therapy specialization and it looks like this:

YOU MUST HAVE:

:-------> A. 24 UNITS FROM MEDRADSC 2A03, 2D03, 2S03, 2T03, 2U03,
: 2W03, 2X03, 2Z03
:
:-------> B.REQUIRED COURSE UNITS: 3 UNITS FROM PSYCH 1X03
:
:-------> C.REQUIRED COURSE UNITS: 3 UNITS FROM ASTRON +
: BIOCHEM + BIOLOGY + EARTH SC + CHEM + CHEM
: BIO + COMP SCI + GEOG + ENVIR SC + GEO +
: KINESIOL + KINESIOL + MATLS + MATH + MED PHYS
: + PSYCH + ORIGINS + PHYSICS + STATS + LIFE
: SCI
:
:-------> D.REQUIRED COURSE UNITS: 3 UNITS FROM STATS 2B03
:AND
: :-------> E. 15 UNITS FROM MEDRADSC 2V15
: :
: :-------> F. 21 UNITS FROM MEDRADSC 3I03, 3K03, 3S03, 3V03, 3W03,
: : 3X03, 3Y03
: :
: :-------> G. 3 UNITS FROM MED PHYS 4B03
: :
AND : :----> H. 6 UNITS FROM MEDRADSC 3Z06
: :-OR
: : : :-> I. 3 UNITS FROM MEDRADSC 3E03
: : :AND
: : :-> J. 3 UNITS FROM MEDRADSC 3DE3, 3DH3
: :
: :-------> K. 9 UNITS FROM MEDRADSC 3B03, 3T03, 3U03
:
:------1/1-> L. 30 UNITS FROM MEDRADSC 4E15, 4F15
ELECTIVE 2009/10 TO PRESENT CALENDARS

YOU MUST HAVE:

S. UP TO 12 UNITS MAY BE FROM ANY COURSE(S)

1. In part C- does that mean I need 3 units in each of the listed courses, or does it mean I need 3 units in one of the courses?
2. What do the AND's and OR mean? The way the chart is set up just really confuses me, I don't know if I need everything on there, or if I have some options.
3. How many units do I need in total? I know the MadRadSci program is fairly unique because for the next two summers we have classes/placement. So can I assume they need us to average 15 units per semester, times 10 semesters means I need 150 units to graduate? (2 semesters year 1 and 4, and 3 semesters year 2 and 3?) I need someone to explain this ! Thanks.

1.) Part C just means you need to take one elective (3 units) from the Faculty of Science.

2.)

"AND : :----> H. 6 UNITS FROM MEDRADSC 3Z06
: :-OR
: : : :-> I. 3 UNITS FROM MEDRADSC 3E03
: : :AND
: : :-> J. 3 UNITS FROM MEDRADSC 3DE3, 3DH3"

The 'OR' here means you have two options in third year: Option 1 - Take 3Z06
Option 2 - Take 3E03 and then either 3DE3 or 3DH3.

3.) 150 units total: 30 units in first year, then 45 units of clinical practicum are interspersed with 75 units of academic courses in Levels II to IV.

I would explain everything but I'm way too lazy. This should explain everything: http://registrar.mcmaster.ca /CALEN...nt/pg1607.html

If it doesn't then let me know what doesn't make sense.

1- That's your electives, and it means you can take a 3-unit course from any of the following, ie a 3 unit chemistry course OR astronomy OR life sci, etc

2- AND/OR is simple, just follow the arrows. For example, your second AND means you HAVE to take 3Z06 OR substitute it with a combination of 3E03 and 3D03, or 3E03 and 3DH3- basically you need 6 units in total.

3- The Med Rad Sci course requires you take a full course-load at all times, so that you end up with five years' worth of credits. You will have two electives in first year, one elective in second year and one elective in third year. Some people take Psych or Stats in first or second year to get ahead but they will have to replace them with electives regardless. However, if you've taken electives in summer of your first year, they will count towards your overall electives. So if you take two electives in the summer, you can choose to have 9 courses rather than 10 in both second and third years.

Hope that was clear!
