Dental/Ortho
Moving away to Hamilton will bring on a lot of changes. One change i will have to look into is my dentist and orthodontist. unfortunately, my mouth is embraced with brackets and wires. my appoints are always only on tuesdays and that wont be so convenient for me to schedule anymore. is there an orthodontist in hamilton anyone can recommend?
p.s. any other suggestions/comments/advice will be much appreciated!!

I'm not the most knowledgeable on the differences between orthodontists or dentists.. is there one?
either way, I really like the Dr. that is right down the road from Mac. It's in the plaza with Baskin Robbins & Crabby Joes.
I just went last week and the place is really really nice!!!
Here's his info:
Dr. Elio Filice
1685 Main Street WestHamilton, Ontario
905-529-4200

there is a list of dentists here to:

Oh, one question to add to this. I actually have a big appointment at the dentist coming up, (my first cavity.. -__-). But would I be able to use the dental plan at a Dentist in Toronto and not Hamilton or even within McMaster?

Everyone I know who has had braces or any ortho work has gone to Dr. Popovic. He's really nice.

My dentist is Dr. Langer. I don't suggest going to him.

Temara, the difference between a dentist and an orthodontist is that you go to the latter for "orthodontic appliances"; i.e., braces and the like. A dentist doesn't actually make adjustments to your teeth, whereas an orthodontist can. It's a specialty of dentistry, so dentists go on for additional schooling to be one.

As for orthodontists in Hamilton - I, too, have heard very good things about Dr. Popovic. The only issue may be that he's all the way on the other side of the city, in Stoney Creek. A bus would definitely go by there, though. My old orthodontist here in Hamilton retired, which is probably a good thing...he was kind of a crusty old guy. Apparently brilliant, though - my dentist told me that he developed one of the brace designs that is very commonly used now, and was an active researcher up until he retired. I have a feeling such credentials were lost on me when I was a 13-year old brat who didn't want to wear his elastics :p

I'm pretty certain it's not. The 2007-2008 MSU Dental Plan Coverage is listed here: http://www.msu.mcmaster.ca/health/dental/coverage.php

This year's is probably the same thing. So unless what you need falls under what's listed there, you'll be paying for it (or most of it) on your own.

There is supposed to be a dentist starting a practice November 1st in Westdale; they will be located above Albert Snow.

More details will come as we find out more!
