Absolutely. The job pickings are very slim at this point in the summer as most positions have already long been filled. Don't limit yourself to just in/around the school - you want to widen your job search as much as possible. I applied everywhere I could think of (forget a job in my field of biology, pssshhh.... I went for Fortino's, several stores in the University Plaza, Limeridge Mall, McDonalds etc.. LOL).
I was lucky enough to get a great job in Oshawa, but of the 40-50 places I applied to in Hamilton/Toronto (which isn't even that many, I'll admit), none contacted me back, and this was over a month ago.
Don't lose hope, just keep handing out those resumes. Some students do quit their jobs or get fired, so positions are bound to open up here and there. Finding them is the hard part!

Is it because of the awesome shoes you wear, Lawley? For some people, it can be intimidating.

Luckily I kept my job at the University for the summer.
But last year was terrible as well. Applied EVERYWHERE and few called back. If it wasn't for summer school, I would have just gone back to Bracebridge.

XDDD
The thing I like most about myself is my ability to understand (and then apply) what's appropriate in certain social situations.
I clean up real nice is what I'm saying. ;D

I'm hiring. The job is basically being my slave. Duties include: making me food, wiping my butt, telling me I look handsome every hour, and the occasional trimming of my pubes.
