Do courses get deleted if conflicted?
Hey everyone. It's my turn to ask for help So I checked my timetable today, and guess what? One of my 4th year courses totally switched its times on me! I didn't know they could do that. The Master course timetable and everything has been changed for this course and now I have a conflict. I guess they decided on a different time for some reason. I really would have liked a notification about this, because who knows how long ago it was changed. I'm sure other students don't know about this.

So anyway, I went from having no conflicts to a conflict with an afternoon bio lab. There are 6 possibilites for this lab, and I can use 4 of them, but they're all full of course. So, since this is a second term class, I was thinking I'll just leave it as is and see closer to second term if I can move it.

But! I read in another post, that courses may be removed if they are in conflict by a certain date. Does anyone know if I can keep it as a conflict to wait until second term, or will they be dropped automatically when school starts?

Sigh. They should really notify you if they make changes to the timetable. This happened last year as well when they told me the day before school started that my course had been cancelled and I had to find another one right then. :(

I have never heard of courses being deleted if you're in conflict -- I don't think the computer has the power to do that. In fact, there is a schedule up from one of my housemate's second semester timetable that shows a conflict...and I assume she ended up taking both courses in the end.

Ask your department, I guess?

Thanks Danielle,

I'm going to call them up on Monday, but I'm still upset at them for not notifying anyone. I'll contact my friends in that course and see if they know about it. Good thing it's a second term course. I had a feeling I could keep the conflicts because I remember a guy going to like 10 courses he was registered in, not knowing which ones he actually wanted. But it's never happened before that I would have a conflict this late in the game, so I wanted to be sure. If I was dropped from one or both of those courses, those spots would be filled up so fast.

Hahaha. That was the last course I chose cause I didn't know what else to take! No, the one that changed was paediatric exercise physiology, where you work with children. I really have been looking forward to that course because I think I want to become a paediatrician and it sounded like an amazing experience. It now conflicts with a vertebrate anatomy lab, another course I really want to take. I'm sure I'll be able to get the lab moved in due time. Patience is a virtue.
