not toilet paper. paper towels would be a good idea if you spill something on your desk or whatever. the rest is really up to you... if you're going to cook in the common kitchen, then dishsoap and a can opener might be a good idea.

I second what Merissa said. Toilet paper is not necessary unless you have your own personal bathroom, then it is. If you have a... sensitive bottom... you might want to bring your own TP cause the stuff they gibe you at school is a)thin like tissue paper and b) not the cha-cha-cha-charmin stuff.

The common kitchen areas have can openers...I remember the one on my floor was upside-down though.
But...if you're planning on eating a bunch of canned goods it may be a good idea.
And bring Windex! You'll want to dust your desk.

I brought my own dishsoap, just cause sometimes there wouldnt be any in the common room. I second Windex -- good for your desk, window (I drew on my window alot haha), wardrobe mirror, etc.
I also think a cheap vaccum is handy.. you'd be surprised how quickly those vacuums at commons go. And those things are awful to lug around.

Oh yeah! I totally brought a little Shark vacuum! It was so handy, esp in the winter when I didn't have to go all the way to Commons (or Keyes if your WQ) to get the vacuum. I also brought lots of Febreeze because your room can get stuffy in the winter esp, and if you have a not so clean roomie.
AND SHOWER SANDALS! I CANNOT STRESS THE NEED FOR FLIP FLOPS IN THE PUBLIC SHOWERS!

That movie was so lame! I watched it one day because I was bored to tears. It didn't improve my mood. Jennifer Love Hewitt and her "I am a tortured pretty popular girl who really doesn't want to be popular, just accepted for who I truly am"
Gag me with a spoon.

The only thing provided is a mattress; you need to bring your own bedding.

I don't know how big the triple and quad rooms are, but if you're in a double or single room, I would suggest an extra 3 level shelving unit from Ikea and a bigger fridge. I've found those very helpful. Yeah, you have to bring your own sheets and pillows. I would also suggest a pair of flip flops or other shower shoes so you aren't stepping in everyone's mess and the dirty floor after. I also found cutlery, bowls, plates, and cups to be important so don't have a lack of those.
