do letter of reccomendations help when getting evaluated? [ENG]
Was wondering, I have less courses then usual engineers so I talked to Sally , and she said that I would need a higher average to get into the program I want (which i mech) She said, last year, 6.4 was the lowest, so since I have 25 units, the minimum they go is 31 units in their calculations, so I need an 7.9 ,basically an 8. I was wondering if letter of reccmondations would help if I was a bit below.
I can get 2 probably lol from Mac Profs.

I don't know from experience (plus I'm not in eng), but it seems to me that letters of reccomendations would always be a helpful addition to your academic portfolio. It just might be that one thing that someone else vying for the same spot doesn't have but you do. It can't hurt and wil probably be beneficial somewhere along the line!!

That's something you should ask Sally, but they have their formulas to get into second year programs, and they don't usually require supplementary applications or letters of recommendation. It's not like you're applying for a job, in which case it would be useful. I have serious doubts it would help if you don't meet the cutoff based on the formula they use, but you should ask Sally to make sure.

Generally, no. Its a matter of making you equivalnet in terms of GPA competitivity.

Why do you have less courses? What year are you in? Do you have all the prerequisite course completions to get into level 2? Are the missing courses first year electives?
