Notepad.

Then File > Save as... > "ToDo.txt"

um... sticky notes... no download required.. comes built in with 7 and vista.... look like little post it notes on your desktop... i believe you may also download versions that work on earlier versions of windows

sticky notes also starts up along with windows, so you dont have to open it every time

Does anyone know if a sticky notes app for Windows 7 that doesn't stay in the taskbar? It's kind of annoying :/

Rainlendar is a free program you can download that has a to-do list in addition to a calendar with due dates and upcoming events for your desktop

well to remove my stiky icon from taskbar i simply right click on it and press the 'unpin this program from taskbar' option and presto its gone
