Do the rooms have keys or key-cards?
I know Les Prince is a relatively new residence, so I was just wondering whether your room doors have physical metal keys, or electronic key-cards. I heard some talk about key-cards for accessing the res, but how about the rooms?

you have an electronic card to get into the building, then a metal key to get into your room.. last year they were talking about starting a fingerprint system thingy to enter the building, but i doubt theyve started that yet

Last I heard (I think the IRC or some other student representative group) stepped and said this would be a waste of money or something like that. I don't think we'll be seeing the fingerprint system anytime soon.
Although I could be wrong, this is just what remember reading about last year.

Yeah its just a scan card for building access, then a regular key for your room.
Man first years are worrying about all the wrong things if they are getting nervous about types of keys

I wasn't really worrying about it, I was just curious for the same reason as Silver mentioned. I don't really like keys. I find electronic key-cards much more convenient and they're harder to lose since they just go in your wallet. But I guess I'll be able to deal with it just fine

Lol may as well get used to keys now because it's not like any house you'll have in the near future (including off campus student housing which is what the majority of people seem to use after first year) is going to have key cards instead XP

You plan on carrying your wallet everywhere? To the bathroom, shower, etc? Besides, carrying your keys whenever is a good habit to learn for when you eventually grow up.
Things kids worry about these days...

Well my bathroom and shower are in my room, so that's not a concern. But yes, I always have my wallet whenever I'm not in my room. It's just habit.

It's hard to lock yourself out in a house though.

They give you a little mcmaster card holder that you can put your student card, building access card and attach your keys to....so if you choose you can use that. If you want to use your own wallet then you just gotta get used to having the responsibility of carrying a key. The lock out fees increase after the 1st couple times you lock your self out.

You won't lock yourself out of Les Prince rooms... they don't lock themselves. Some other residences' rooms do that.

Thats true you wont directly lock your self out.
It can happen if you go to the common room or study room and leave your keys in your room and your room mate doesnt know and locks the door. If you are in a double room always let them know you don't have your keys on you, if you are leaving for a quick minute.
