Go to tools > advanced editing > touch up text tool
This might only be in the more recent version of adobe though, but this tool will allow you to select text and deleted/ add text to the document, it is very limited in it's abilities though, I would only use it for very minute changes (not adding huge paragraphs) If you want to make notes on pdf's, there is a sicky note tool
