Does this seem weird?

Does it seem weirdthat someone who completed 3 years in the McMaster Mohawk BSCn program would beadmitted to McMaster Medical school when they had never even been on dean’slist during that 3 years?

Sorry to ask but I can’t wrap my head around how?

The person has no previous degree or credits prior to thenursing credits and never completed BScN

Yes, you are right. it is not all that hard to get dean’slist in either program. It is arguably easier to get on dean’s list through mo-mac because the collab electives are very easy to get A’s in.

Just seemed unusual that someone with less than an A- average and no undergrad degree would get into mac med school

It seems like a high percentage of people in nursing are ondean’s list http://fhs.mcmaster.ca/nursing/docum...dwi nners.pdf

Mac's medschool doesn't put as much emphasis on GPA compared to the other ontario medschools, they look strongly at how the person does on CASPer (which is only used by Mac in Ontario since they were the ones that made it) when making selections for interviews/admission

And of course the Multiple Mini-Interviews are weighted very heavily for actual admission

Definitely not the first time I've heard of someone with a mediocre overall GPA making it into McMaster Medicine, just like the many people with super high GPA's not making it in, so this doesn't really seem weird at all to me

I've actually heard that getting into med school is more difficult for a nurse than an science undergrad...because admission committees think that nurses are more needed and more valuable to society than science undergrads. You always hear of a shortage of nurses...but never of lab assistants or PhD candidates.
