Double Room Alone?
On the McMaster Residence Portal, where it showed me what res I was in, under occupancy information it has my name for one of the beds, but then on the other one it just says - empty -. Does this mean I don't have a roommate and will have a double room to myself?!

that spot will most likely be filled soon, if not, during the year.
some people have issues w/ their roommates at some point during the year and are usually placed in other residences.

It probably means that someone dropped out, so they'll put someone on the waiting list on it.
If by some chance that you do have that spot all to yourself, it might be for 1 semester and then they'll put exchange students or students coming back from coop there.
But hope that it's just for you!

So it's pretty unlikely that I will actually get it all to myself right? Shouldn't get my hopes up?

Lol mystery roommate. It'd be really nice if you ended up getting a double for yourself, though .

Don't get your hopes up! Not that it's unlikely, but because there's always so much demand. And even if they don't fill it in now or during the rest of the summer, they could assign someone to the room at any point (i.e. first week of school, or even 2nd semester).

Too bad :( It would've been awesome to get a double as a single.

It'll definitely fill up. When I was in first year I was in Bates, with only two other roommates and one room listed as empty. We were really excited when we thought we would have an extra bedroom, but they filled it up literally two weeks before school started :(

with the amount of first years coming in and amount of people who qualify for guaranteed residence there is like a 99.999999% chance that it will be filled. they already had to convert rooms (like doubles into triples) to make room for the amount of people last year.
