Okay, admittedly, I may have stereotyped the electrical engineer with a multimeter... But wouldn't it be so much more helpful for you in the future? Possibly? I'm in Civ, and I've owned 2 for years... Used it dozens of times from anything like house repair jobs, to building a simple circuit using odds and ends as conductors and whatnot.

They should tell us before hand that formal clothing is required.

For example, they tell us what our Tuition is and what textbook we need. They should do the same for all course related expenses...

Well... It's not MANDATORY by any means. It's a part of being professional in manner for some classes, and so you must improvise.

We're finishing up a society class, 2nd year, where we had to build a rube goldberg machine (youtube it) and we had to go and spend like, $100 as a group on random stuff like pulleys, cups, string, wire, paint, mouse traps, rat traps, funnels....... We weren't told that these materials were prereq's for the course: It was required in a project, and so we did it.

This is a good idea and is definitely something worth looking into. As many students can just barely afford to go to school, being able to plan for school expenses is a must. Perhaps you could suggest it to the engineering support people or even the engineering student society. Older students who have taken the courses could write down a rough guide of approximate external expenses for various courses which would at least give new students a heads up.

Commander says thanks to dsahota for this post.
