Dress code for events on OSCAR
Hey everyone, I just had a question that needs to be answered. I've recently registered for an event on oscar, but it didn't say what the dress code is. Usually, for an employer led event, it will say it's either business casual or business formal. This event is a mac/staff led event with nothing talking about the dress code. Should I assume there none? I would call them but they are closed on the weekend and I can't wait till they open on monday morning because that's when thevent is and I'll already be at school by the time they open. Thanks.

If unsure, it's always best to be overdressed than under dressed.

I wouldn't wear anything I don't wear every day.. but if its something I hope to get a job in, I'd at least wear one of those dressy shirts.

Whats the event?

It's an event where they help you learn how to job search.

Oh, sounds just like a workshop, not like you have to impress anyone

The thing about those, depending on whos attending them, you could be really out of place.
If its one in a small conference room in JHE or MDCL, chances are you'll have a bunch of upper year people (or PhDs) and they may be in suits.. if its a lecture style event, then you can get away in casual clothes! (i.e. lecture hall room)

I'd still just wear a pseudo-fancy shirt and probably decent shorts; nevah jeans!

If it doesn't say and it's a Mac-led event, then just dress casually. Usually it would state the dress code if it were anything other than casual .

I work for the Student Success Centre. There is definitely a dress code. I would say dress business formal for the event just in case but bare minimum you need to be in business casual. It's policy. We have turned people away for not being dressed appropriately.

Doesn't that completely depend on the type of event though?

Because I went to the event last week and there was definitely no dress code. All the students were in their casual street clothes (tshirts, jeans, sweaters, etc).
