Took this in Winter 2010 with John Maclachlan. He is a great professor. I can't remember the exact break down but it was something like this.
-4 assignments total 40%?
-1 Midterm 20%
-Exam 30%

agree. worst course I have taken so far. 1st course that I dropped in university. didn't expect this from luc.

yah course is not easy. I have taken courses like cancer and etc. and done well and had a 93 plus before going into the final. Ended up with an A- and that to was like 81%.

The assignments require a lot of work to do well. Further the final exam was absolutely horrible.
class average was near 50-55%.

There have been many different complaints about this course. I wouldn't be surprised if there was an academic review.

I didn't even know there were Academic Reviews. Do the results get made public?

If enough people complain, there would a review. Since this is a third year course and the exam was ridiculously hard (mid 50 average), I wouldn't be surprised if enough people complained to warrant a review. People actually tend to care a lot more in their upper years, if anything does happen, it will probably be just a mark boost, although I don't think there will be any public statement.

Go to the Academic Dean of science or ombuds. I know many people in the course have filed a complaint already and after I saw the answer key for that exam ( which was ridiculous) I am going to as well. If you know anyone else in the class that feels the same, urge them to file a complaint as well.

Yea I also saw the key as well ... i got nothing but above 85s on the essays/quizzes yet i somehow bombed the exam .. so i went to see my exam and apparently when luc said "if you show that you have a general understanding of what is being asked you will get the marks" was a load of bull. you either had to mention the points he had on the key or you got a zero.

I took this course with Dr. Bernier. I found it to be interesting, and ended up doing pretty well (I got an 11).

Either send them an email or call them. Emailing them might be easier, just write the course code and say that you thought the examination was unfair and you want it to be investigated or something along those lines.

sent in an complaint... we should get more people to send one in if they thought it was unfair.....

Exam was a killer!!!
