Apparently it's better now, with the army around the city and people protecting their own neighbourhoods. The internet is still mostly down, but phone lines are much better now and I was able to call earlier today.

Awesome, back to the ad hominem. Let's break off now, shall we? I don't feel like wasting more time in fruitless argument.
@Sara - the 'self-policing' is very interesting indeed. I know it was used to (relatively) good effect in Tunisia, any ideas on how it's working out in Egypt?

I would love to answer to Mhrattas stupid comments if only I could see it !!!!
EDIT : ad hominem? Yeah because I really did say :"You're wrong because you're an idiot" ... (sarcasm)
It's funny because you are using ad hominem too : "You're wrong because you're using that ..."

All of the ammunition and tear gas came from the U.S. They were produced Combined Systems International from Jamestown, Pennsylvania. They continue to sell it to Egypt. I couldn't find a single news source that has Israel supplying Egypt with ammunition.

If the army and president go for a Tiananmen Square situation... shit is going to get real.
Can someone just assassinate this ass-hat president already? Hell, can someone just assassinate their entire government already?
Hell, can the world just stop being stupid?

People are such pussies. Violence is the answer. You don't answer a punch with words, you answer with with some ass kicking.
Egyptians should just start getting AKs and shoot every one who shoot protesters and back that Israeli dog of Mubarak.

You know what the problem is ??? You don't know what you are talking about
You didn't know what laws of physics are and made the argument that laws of physics can be mutable.
See if you didn't know what laws of physics are. That's fine. But to not know and argue, that is ignorance.
But of course, you thought you knew what laws of physics are because you read about the "problem of induction" on wikipedia where it mentions "laws of physics"
I rest my case. I do not need to argue with someone who thinks of himself as a "philosopher". I am a student of Science (taking engineering to apply it). Science deals with facts not with philosophical crap.

It's working well actually. Well from what I can tell through family and the news. Every street/neighbourhood is setting up check-in areas with young men policing their neighbourhoods themselves and they've been doing that since yesterday. Except for 1 or 2 incidents where thieves entered and 3 civilians have been killed so far I believe.

I'm not talking about the ones being used so far. That was stock supplied by the US previously. I'm talking about now, that the stock has run out. Egypt asked the US for further supply but they refused to do so. As a result, they went to restock from Israel. This was confirmed by police officers and eyewitnesses who called into Al-Jazeera to report the arrival of 2 planes with weapons, ammunition and teargas. I don't think it's on news websites yet besides the live Al-Jazeera updates, especially since the state television has ordered almost all of the private news stations to shut down.
I agree that they should just get it over with. But if anyone starts shooting, whether the army or the police, it'll end up in a massacre. There's already 150 confirmed deaths, who knows how many more there are.

True, but only as a last resort. I think we've already lost enough. The numbers of buildings burnt, the lives lost, the money lost due to people closing their businesses, the stock market decline, etc.

Egypt ordered Al-Jazeera to shut down too. They took away their broadcasting rights and made up some bull about how their papers weren't in order. Only reason we're still getting news from them is because Al-Jazeera is badass like that and created a secret HQ away from the real one that got shut down.
Seriously disappointing actions from Egypt, but expected.
Also-the new curfew is insane.

That would have all be prevented if people didn't allow Mubarak to have power in the first place.
the "Muslim Brotherhood" should have been in power instead. But people wanted Americanism and they got a taste of it.

Yeah I know. All this because they were the ones actually broadcasting live scenes and the truth. Haha, I don't think they want to miss out on all that's going on. You should see how state television is like. Complete and utter bulls%*&. They're getting live streets that are calm and no ones out.. Not sure who they're trying to fool..
I know! 3 PM-8 AM. He's honestly lost his mind..
