I was reading course descriptions. Environmental science courses seem to be a lot of memorization and boring. Also if your terrible at math should you take Econ 1BO3 or Linguistics 1AO3.

That's where interest is really important. I know a lot of people who were somewhat interested in the topics, but found the work tedious at times, but definitely not boring, so they ended up with a decent mark.

Is the mandatory field trip for enviro sci courses the whole day?
Since I don't think I can afford to miss a whole day of classes... =S

Econ 1B03 - You need patience and good common sense to do well in this course. Apparently it's a "breeze" course but if you don't have the patience to read through long scenarios where you have to piece situations together and you have a very poor attention span, I doubt you'll do well in this course. I had to work hard to achieve a decent grade in this course. You actually do learn stuff in this course.

Linguistics 1A03 - It's pretty easy up until midterm time and then after it's like a slap on the face (in comparison to the 1st half of the semester). It's quite a bit of memorization and if your first language is not English and if you have an accent, you may find this course challenging.

Aging and Society 1BB3 - This course was really easy and enjoyable for me. You learn about the elderly which may be boring for some but we learnt about pension plans and RRSPs and stuff I didn't know much about and since my parents are nearing the retirement age, I found the info useful. The essay was worth 35% of your final grade and exam was 40% with midterm being 25%. If you're not a good essay person this may be a huge disadvantage for you but to be honest, our class average was low 80s so that's really good. Depends on the prof I suppose. The midterm was pretty easy, the exam I thought was brutal. Pure memorization of the textbook was needed for that.

Enviro Sci 1G03 - This is a memorization course. The midterm was easy if you memorized your stuff. There are so many terms and you kind of need to know them all because for the midterm and exam they literally chose random stuff from everywhere. If you gets Eyles as your prof, you'll get John Maclachlan as the assistive prof and when he lectures for 1/2 the semester he tells you exactly what's on the midterm and exam. A lot of profs say one thing and do something different but everything he said would be on the midterm was actually on it. All of the labs were easy peasy but I didn't do all that great on them. I suggest buying the textbook because for the labs you'll be trying to identify rocks and there are pictures of the rocks in the textbook. I failed to do this :(

Hey everybody! I'm going into engineering next year and I'm having trouble deciding which electives to take.
Can anybody tell me which electives sound like they would suit me based on the following:
-I'm good with numbers
-I'm very good at visualizing things
-i HATE writing essays and reading (especially novels, but i don't mind reading about how something works or history stuff)
-I don't like anything to do with business
-i like history
-I don't like memorizing (especially dates), I rather understand something
-If I'm not interested in the topic, I simply can't concentrate and do really poorly
-I'm interested in psychology
-I'm more of a 'straight to the point' type of person rather than 'reading between the lines'/interpreting things

Also, could anybody tell me which one would be better in terms of ease, being interesting and amount of essay writing out of:
-Anthro 1b03 (world archeology)
-anthro 1z03 (the human species)
-psych 1x03
