If you do them at Mac, they sure do! If you transfer courses over or take some summer school courses at another university... it gets a bit iffy (b/c it could just be a pass/fail)
its questions like these that make me wonder how some people get into university... did your high school electives count towards your overall average? yes, maybe not for the university admission process but any courses you take that are recognized by mac usually count

Yes if you did them at McMaster, if you did them at another university they show up as a Pass or Fail and do not affect your GPA.

I thought if you did them at another university then it doesn't affect your mac CA, but if you apply to grad school or a professional school, then they get factored into your GPA?

If I understood it correctly when I was told then yes. They show up as a pass/fail unless somebody needs to know your exact average for either a scholarship or grad school or whatever else.
