Engineer 4m06/sfwr Eng 4g06
I'll be in level 3 Software eng this fall and i was thinking about taking the capstone project course(to have a lower course load in my final year)
However, it states in the course calender that registration in level 4 is a pre-requisite for the course.
My question is : Can I get this particular pre-requisite waived for myself so i can register for the course? anyone ever did this before or is it too stupid of me to even think about this thing.

PS:i will have a 9ish gpa starting this fall.

Some people do this if they're in 5 year program so they don't have 2 capstones. You can always talk to the head of your department for permission or the person running that course

Yeah if you talk to your department head i'm sure they'll be able to clear it up for you. i'm in a 5 year program and did my senior thesis in my third year with the permission of my department head so i wouldn't be swamped with the society and materials capstones

Just saying that a lot of the courses taken in fourth year can be directly applied to your capstone project, so that is a major disadvantage i see you being at if you do this. If you are only doing this just to have an easier final year i would advise against it. You would be overloading your third year by taking a full course load PLUS capstone, which is a ridiculously time consuming project throughout the year. just my opinion/advice though

Do not take the capstone course early if you're not going to take it seriously. I had less than useful partners when I did it, and it was very stressful.

Also, I'm doubtful they would let you do this. You take a lot of architecture related courses in third year software, which are essential for your capstone project if you want it to turn out well.
