I've heard a lot about 1280, but what exactly is it? I've heard it is a club from some people, others say it is a restaurant, and others say it is a bar. So what exactly is it and how much does it cost? Also, is there an age restriction and would you recommend going regularly?

It's all of those pretty much. Restaurant by day, bar/club by night. The food is not bad and the prices are average compared to most restaurants. Thursday nights are usually the club nights for 1280. Most of the events they hold is 18+, but if you are 18 then you cannot buy drinks inside. I would recommend going every now and then since it is fun for the most part if you're into that scene

It's all of that: a restaurant, club and bar. As for prices: https://www.msumcmaster.ca/servicesa...lInfo/MENU.htm

ita all 3?.... 1280 is in the basement of the student centre. on weekdays, during the day you can go in for lunch or dinner, they have a pretty good menu, and a nice outdoor patio. they also serve drinks to those of age and have a round bar. on certain nights they have DJ's and other special events and its turned into a club thing for dancing. usually every thursday they have club night. some times you need to be a certain age to get in so first years wont be able to get in

The food has gotten better from my first year. Kinda like an inexpensive Kelsey's imo.

Pretty much what everyone else has said. Monday to Friday during the day it's a restaurant/bar. The food has gotten better over the past couple of years, and it's decent for campus food. Don't go in there expecting superb, real restaurant quality food, it's a student pub.

Thursday and Saturday nights are club nights from 9pm to 2am. Thursday's have been phenomenal this past year with every night reaching capacity. Saturdays have been hit and miss. In addition to these regular nights, there are also special themed club nights every month or so. I think that the club nights are amazing for a student club. HUGE sound, sweet light show, typical club music, and rammed with people. If it's your type of scene, Thursday nights at 1280 are definitely for you.

1280 is also used as a concert venue. We've hosted Marianas Trench, Classified, Down With Webster, The Arkelles, and a bunch of other artists. It is also used for other events such as improv and comedy groups, and non-musical acts such as hypnotists.

Also musically-related, there are usually acoustic nights held weekly with some known acts within the genre. (I'm clueless as to who these people are, but quite a few people do come out for these nights).

If you care more about the bar/pub side of things (for drinks vs "clubbing") I'd recommend the Phoenix instead. Rotating taps of delicious local brews = AMAZING!

Personally I find the food at the phoenix to be much better too.
