Exam deferral
Hi my name is Tony.

I am in first year commerce. I have some serious medical issues brought on by fatigue, lack of sleep and food. I know that it's all my fault that I did not sleep and eat regularly. I have my last math exam tomorrow, but I received a medical note from my family doctor to defer the exam tomorrow. It is my first year and I don't know what the policy is, so can someone help me what I have to do next and what is going to happen once I defer the exam?

Thank you so much.

You need to be talking to your academic advisor and/or dean's (or associate dean's) office, not asking MacInsiders.

Edit: This may help: http://registrar.mcmaster.ca /scheduling/deferred.html

Thank you so much. I know, I should have not ask this, but I tried to reach the advisor and academic office, but I was unable to do so.

Ick, get in contact with your faculty asap! I've never deferred an exam before so I can't tell you what to do beyond that. Hope you get better soon!

Thank you so much Ryan! I am going to contact the faculty tomorrow morning to tell them about the situation and to hand in the Doctor's note. Once again thank you so much!

They defer it with a doctor's note. Seriously, it's no big deal to them. Good luck on your other exams though!

According to the course calendar, you need the McMaster medical form specifically. If you have a different note from your family doctor, you might as well give it a try (I have no idea how strict they are about enforcing this), but they might not accept it if it's not the McMaster form (which is available to download off of the campus health website I believe).
