The GUCEL (Graduate/Undergraduate Collaboration for Experiential Learning) program is a new initiative, which allows graduate and undergraduate students to collaborate with one another while pursuing an experiential learning project. The program is supported by SPICES funding through the School of Graduate Studies. The McMaster Office of Sustainability is overseeing the pilot program, with projects focusing on sustainable initiatives within the university and the local community. The first GUCEL project is currently underway. This inaugural project focuses on waste management at McMaster University and is being supported by the Facility Services Department.
We are looking for a second group of students to develop their own project idea! If you have a great idea about improving sustainability on campus or within the community and are interested in gaining experience in developing and implementing of a sustainability-related project please contact Melissa Gallina, GUCEL Program Coordinator, at [email protected] to find out more about the GUCEL program and how to get involved!
Students involved in the GUCEL program will have the opportunity to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and develop their communication skills through high-level reporting. Students should expect to spend 5 to 10 hours per week on GUCEL project work, including meetings, emails, and other relevant tasks.
