A hard drive is a hard drive. Doesn't matter what OS you're using so long as the disk's format is something the OS is able to read/write to. Just go to a store and look at what will fit your space requirements and is on sale basically. Also take into consideration if the hard drive needs an AC power source or can run off of USB only, depending on how portable you need it to be. Also, if your computer has a FireWire 400 or 800 port, you might think about getting a hard drive that's compatible with that, as FireWire provides better transfer rates than USB 2.0. The same applies for eSATA and USB 3.0, but AFAIK there aren't any macs with USB 3.0 yet, and I don't know of eSATA on any of them either.

Lacie Rikiki, coolest hard drive ever, I'm using it with my mac and i've had no problems at all. The coolest thing about it is that its SO TINY, just about the size of an ipod/iphone so it's super easy to transport around and really easy to use.

I'm not very tech savvy, so I couldn't tell you much about its capabilities but I can vouch for its awesomeness
It's decently priced at futureshop, but i'm sure you could get it cheaper elsewhere.

depends what u want. do u want a portable? or do u want one that is cheap and holds alot.
this christmas, i bought a 2TB 3.5" harddrive for 90 bucks, really cheap. You can buy urs premade or u can buy an internal harddrive and just purchase a case.

I dont think many externals come in usb3.0 yet. gota give some pointers of what u want. cost vs size(portability)

 2.0:480 Mbit/s
3.0: 4.8 Gbps

So pretty much a factor of 10 (forgot my computer prefixes bla bla conversions)

usb 3.0 wont be supported until later this year

You can buy a USB 3.0 adapter like this and stick it into your slot: http://eceplayground.com/2010/09/19/...0-traveler-es/
