As our regular readers may know, MacInsiders has reported on new Facebook features in the past, before they launch, as many students at McMaster use Facebook and are wanting to know the latest scoop with new features.
It has been announced on several tech blogs that Facebook is going to be launching an instant messaging / chat feature to it's site soon which will allow you to see which of your friends are currently online, and let you chat with them while browsing Facebook. The chat stays ontop of the site so you can click new pages and your conversation won't get lost, very similar to GTalk (for those of you who use Google's Gmail service).
A video can be found to the right. It's a sneak peek, and may look different when it actually launches, but it gives you a good idea of the neat feature that will be launching. The presenter is Peter Deng, the product manager for Facebook Chat, who made it clear that this is a preliminary version of the product.
