i thought it said you could either take 1A03 or get no less than a C- in 1M03?
meaning you could take one or the other right?
hopefully because i took the 1A03 which i was told was easier because calc just isn't my thing.
thanks.

they are both calculus.

Math 1A03 is meant for students in the sciences, whereas Math 1M03 is meant for students wanting to go into Commerce.

Hard how?

All courses are challenging in different ways.

My goal is to do a combined major in BA/BSW so I was planning on doing my BA in Psych and then ofcourse my bachelor of Social Work. I was just wondering what courses are mandatory in 1st year in order for me to attain my goals? Thanks in advance

For Social Work you need Sociology 1A06 and 6 units from the course list here: http://registrar.mcmaster.ca /calen...08/sec_722.htm

For Psych:
- Psych 1A03 (1X03) & 1AA3 (1XX3)
- one math (1m03, 1a03)
- one bio (1k03, 1a03, or 1aa3)

anita,

I am actually looking into the exact same program as you with psychology for my BA.
the combined social work isn't an honours program, so the psych prerequisites are a little different then the link above,

http://www.science.mcmaster. ca/psy...HighSchool.pdf

hope this helps !

andd question for someone who may know a bit more in terms of programs, If I am enrolling in the 3 Year BA pscyhology program, and i've taken grade 12 advanced functions, im set for year 1 in terms of math? (as in its the equivalent to Math 1K03?)

it says : " Note: Students without Grade 12 Advanced Functions U
must complete Math 1K03 – Intro Calculus for Social
Sciences.
Note: Students applying to the 3-yr BA Psych program
only require Psych 1X03, Math 1K03, and no Biology."

BA/BSW isn't a true honours program...but it's not just a BA program...it's considered to be more of an honours program, though.

math 1k03 is equivalent to OAC calc. but if you took the courses required then you don't need to take 1k03 at Mac/ may not be able to take it depending on your final grade. you need to take math 1a03 or math 1m03 though.

Oh ok thanks alot, so based on what you said I came up with a rough list of courses I would take next year, please let me know if I am taking all the courses I have to in order to earn the BA (Psych)/BSW as well as let me know if I am taking any math or bio course unneccessarily as I do not like them very much

1A06(Social Work) 6 Units
1A03(Experimental Psych) 3 Units
1AA3 (Psych of Interpersonal Behavior) 3 Units *
1K03(Intro to Calc for Bus. Hum. & Soci Sci) 3 Units
1M03(Calc for Bus. Hum. & Soci Sci) 3 Units **
1K03 (Biology of the Hum. & Soci Sci) 3 Units
1A03(Gerontol-Aging and Society) 3 Units
1SS3(Inquiry in the Soci Sci) 3 Units
1A03(Women, Culture, Power) 3 Units
1C03(Voices of Work, Change & Resistance) 3 Units

*2nd term- I know you can only take 5 courses per term I just haven't decided which other courses from the list above I'm taking 2nd term

**This course's Prerequisite: One of Grade 12 Calculus and Vectors U, Grade 12 Advanced Functions and Introductory Calculus U, MATH 1F03 or 1K03. I know I need to take the Intro to Calc for Bus. Hum. & Soci Sci but I just want to make sure that by taking that I would be satisfying the prerequisite for 1M03.
Thanks!

hey thanks alot that did help, just wondering though what is the difference b/w the 3yr BA psych program and the 4yr can I do the 3yr BA psych and still graduate with a combined BA/BSW degree? and if so based on what I just read (thanks to you!) is it true that I am not required to take a biology course??
Students applying to the 3-yr BA Psych program
only require Psych 1X03, Math 1K03, and no Biology.

You can't do a BA in Pysch and have it combined with your BSW. You need to be in a BA (Hons) program to do that.

A four-year program shows you are willing to go the extra mile (fourth year courses are much more difficult than third year), and will be beneficial if you wish to do any kind of graduate work in psych, and would likely be helpful for a BSW

Im a bit confused as well, lorend does this mean my courses in my first post with my 1st yr courses are correct and will enable me to get a BA Hons as you say in addition to a BSW? and just my second post in reference to a 3yr psych is incorrect?
