fail??
i know i keep asking these sad questions that i shouldn't be asking but i really can't help it. so here is another one: i am in first year eng, do i need to get pass in each and every course to go to the second year, or is it ok if i fail math 1z04, but still get a gpa of over 5 or something?

I'm pretty sure if you fail a course requirement, you'll have to take it again, but you can still get into 2nd year.
I would talk to to engineering academic advisor.

Math 1Z04 is prime requirement for engg.

You would have to retake the course if you failed it, but ya you could get into second year if you still have the average but I think you can only fail one or two courses.

If you fail a course you go into a sort of transition limbo provided you keep your CA over 4.0. What this means is that as long as you take and pass the course(s) you failed in summer school before Eng II and keep a 4.0 or greater average you'll be put into some department. Note that because you're put in after everyone else you may not get your first choice if it's one of the more popular ones. i.e. Mech/Civil.

Just keep in mind that if you fail 1Z04, you can't take 1ZZ5, which means you will have to take both of them in summer school before they will let you into second year.
