Fallout: New Vegas - Awesome or Not?
I am thinking of buying it, since I am a huge fan of Fallout 1 and 2. Never had the chance to buy the third one.
What do you people think? Is New Vegas good enough to buy and play, or is it not as good as the originals?

I hate fallout 3
YAWN TALKING WHILE STARING AT BAD PEOPLE MODELS THAT JUST STAND THERE AND MOVE THEIR LIPS IN THE SAME WAY NO MATTER WHAT THEYRE SAYING
TOO MUCH WALKING FROM PLACE TO PLACE
AIMING SYSTEM IS STUPID
BETHESDA SERIOUSLY NEEDS TO UPGRADE THEIR ENGINE (but they never will...)

Yes, I have heard that about Fallout 3. But have you checked Fallout New Vegas? They supposedly fixed all those issues.

noooooooooope
walking times cut down a little sure...
models/sprites are still a thousand years old and work like garbage
aiming system is still stupid
It's more of fallout 3 expansion than anything

Yeah, I was actually under the impression that New Vegas was an F3 expansion, shows how out of the loop I am during the school year...
I might just pick up F3, at this point you can find it super cheap. And there are problems but its still an awesome game.

Iunno. From what I've heard, I am scared to pick F3 up; I wanna go straight to New Vegas, but I wanna make sure it's worth getting.

I haven't played Fallout 3: NV yet, but I have played Fallout 3. I enjoyed that game, but like Kendoon said, some parts get pretty dry and boring - not to mention those faces :/
New Vegas wasn't made by the same people as Fallout 3. They only published it. It uses the same engine and other features so its more like an expansion, in that sense.
I've heard its a fun game, but its broken. There are a lot of game ruining glitches to be found and it crashes frequently. To be honest, most of this happened around the time when the game was initially launched. Apparently, they have released a patch that has fixed the majority of these problems, so you should be good. Its out for Playstation 3 and it comes out for Xbox and PC this week.

If I get it, it'd be for PC. But then the question arises: With Steam or without Steam?

I have New Vegas for 360, and love it. It's a fairly slow game, lots of walking the desert, extended periods without combat, but it's a really fun rpg. It's more than just an expansion, although it's very similar to 3.
I finished it once, and am now running two different characters through the game, so that shows how much I like it

If you were to buy it on PC, would you purchase it via Steam or Retail?
