Fido or Virgin sales?
I'm thinking of joining either Fido or Virgin, but don't see any sales currently on their plans.
Does anyone know when the plans usually go on sale?

I think I've seen them discount $5 in the past as limited time offers, or offer more minutes/data.

When you sign up your are not Committed to that plan in anyway. Meaning if a sale does happen you have to simply call up virgin mobile and tell them you want to switch your plan to the new sale plan and they will do it no problem.

Ok thanks.
Since I won't be on contract, what happens if the plans go up in price? Would i still keep the same rate, or would they automatically increase my bill?

In most cases you keep the same rate. Very rarely do they change it without your consent.

My parents are on a 'Sale' plan for $25 with them from 2 years ago and they have not changed it. They too brought their own phone and not on contract

Does anyone know if there's back-to-school promotions coming up for Fido or Virgin?

Mine went up $5 after I was with them for a year and they wouldn't change it back, so they sometimes do.

What was the 5$ increase for? Were you on contract at the time?

If I remember correctly, it's just their sneaky way to charge you the extra $5/month. I am assuming you want to get a smartphone?

Yeah and some of the more expensive ones got cheaper.

They usual have decent promotions when the new iPhone comes out in September.

Wow I can't believe their new plans! Fido and Virgin were the only 2 companies with plans that had a good value.
ABSOLUTELY GARBAGE and ridiculous prices!

I'm looking at plans ranging from 30-60 and they have all changed. I'm not sure why someone is saying 'some' plans have become cheaper when its clear that most (or at least the most popular) plans have become more expensive.

A $49 plan that used to have (I believe) 750 minutes and some data now costs $60. It's not even as if they increased the price by a few dollars!

What a joke - the whole Canadian telecom industry is a monopoly. Yet the idiots at the CRTC are spending loads of $ to advertise on TV how they're fighting 'to have increased competition among the carriers and ensure customers pay low prices'.
