Final Fridge Information
I have contacted Housing and Conference Services. Bunk & Lofts will receive fridges, however, triples will not. Apparently, there is a difference between bunk & lofts and triples.

Residences that have bunk & lofts include:

Whidden
Hedden
Moulton

Those three residences will have in them fridges if you were assigned a bunk & loft. In the event where another residence has a bunk and loft room you will receive a mini fridge. However, Whidden, Hedden and Moulton bunk and lofts are guaranteed to receive a mini fridge.

Haha! Awesome!

I'm guessing you're in a bunk & loft?

For rooms that don't have fridges to themselves (ie doubles), what are the dangers of putting your food in the common-room fridge? Will it get swiped up by scroungers, or do students seem to generally leave other peoples' food alone? I sort of want to buy my milk at the grocery store and save on getting those little cartons all the time, but I'm afraid I'll only get one glass out of it before its gone.

To be honest, there is a risk that people will eat your food. Even if you were to label it people do eat it. I bought a box of fudgsicles in first year and they were gone. However, that was MY experience. Keep in mind that people on other floors may open your fridge as well. Nevertheless, if you and your floormates communicate well and have the understanding that everyone has their own food and no one is to take it it may turn out well. It depends on who you're living with. It happens. I never felt the need to use the fridge often though. If it's for short-time use it would likely be safe to keep your milk in the fridge.

Alright..... I think Wallingford might be safer than other residences, since its so much smaller.... I'll give it a shot and see what happens.

Anytime I've put anything in the fridges in the common room, it's been eaten on me. Even if it was unopened, it would be almost gone on me.

I'm in a Moulton bunk and loft. I'm planning on doing some regular grocery shopping for food that I can make in my common room. Since I'm going to have 2 other roommates (all sharing one little fridge), and I plan on having a regular stock of groceries, do you think it is a good idea for me to get my own fridge? I'm in the loft bed, but having never seen the rooms, I'm worried that I wouldn't be able to fit an additional fridge in the room. Thanks!

Honestly, you're paying at least couple grand for the smallest meal plan which some people can't finish off and you can't get most of your money back. You can only take money from your freedom account which most people tend to use most. A regular supply of groceries isn't necessary considering the wide variety of foods on campus. Also, because you're in a bunk and loft the room you have is already limited and a second fridge isn't necessarily recommended. I survived first year without a fridge at all and got by just fine

Oh, and be sure to talk to your roommates about the division of the fridge because you know sometimes you'll need to store milk or something that can spoil if it's not refrigerated.

And if space is an issue...fridges can be stacked, safely, with one on top of another. (ie two high)
