Final Grade calculation
Guys I have a question,
Suppose I got a GPA of 3.2 at the end of 1st year, and it says that Iam ineligible to continue in engineering..does that mean I have been booted out?
What if through summer school I bring my grade back up to a 4? What will my status be then?

Well you can't sign up for summer school anymore, too late for that.

with an AVG of 3.2, u cant continue in Eng. (which means ur booted out of eng) but, i dont think ur kicked outta of the university. U need a 2 or less for that.

As Eternal said, if you had joined summer skool u could raise ur avg to 4 and maintain ur spot in eng. However u may not get into the of your choice program. With an AVG of 4 u could probably get into chem eng, matls eng, software and eng phys.

I asked Sally Williams this back in May. She said that if you're average is between 3.0 and 3.9, you can indeed do summer school to raise your average to a 4.0 to go through to 2nd year as a regular full-time student. She said that 1st year will be only time that the option to do that is available to you. After that, if you don't maintain a 4.0 in upper years, you really will be booted out.

also just to add, mac doesn't any upper year eng course in summer. Except math 2z03 and 2zz3, which i would recommend doing in the summer!

just go to Sally on Monday and ask her what you should do:

Sally Williams, Undergraduate Student Advisor

Sally is involved in counselling students, addressing any academic problems or concerns that they may have.

You need a 3 or above to stay at the university. Anything below a 3 and you're kicked out.

And yeah, it's way too late to sign up for summer school this summer. There's only 3 weeks left in the term.

If you drop below you can apply for reinstatement. But not sure if you can again since you kinda are doing it now.

If you did/are doing summer school and pull your gpa up to a 4.0 , you will be eligible to continue in engineering and go on to second year.
Most likely you will go into something like: Chem eng, Matls, Eng Phys, Software.

If you had the free choice but failed any course, you just lost the "free choice" and can only go into one of the above mentioned programs. If you didn't fail anything and had the free choice, I am pretty sure you can go into anything you want (if you pull your gpa to a 4).
All the best !
