Fireworks: Beautiful but Deadly?
http://www.mnn.com/earth-matters/tra...he-environment
Perchlorates, particulates, dioxins, cadmium, strontium, barium, aluminum, rubidium.
These compounds and elements can cause things such as anemia, skin lesions, gastrointestinal problems, muscle weakness, kidney disease, lung damage and not to mention cancer.
Of course they are only cause in big doses, firework shows can last an hour long. That's a lot of explosions, a lot those compounds and elements in the air and eventually go into our lake.
What do you think about this article?

I agree that they are harmful for the environment. I once saw an incident at the beach where it went straight near the eye of a passerby - donno what happened though. Anyway, they are dangerous.. but as the article states .. "it's not like they happen every day"

Definitely agree that fireworks are harmful. They are quite dangerous if not handled properly, I just hope my neighbour would quit shooting fireworks nearby my house. Its sad that some Canada Day events are cancelled because of the Toronto strike.

Yeah, but when they do have fireworks, they have A LOT. A couple tons of fireworks in one day can put a lot of pressure on the ecosystem. Atleast that's what I think.
It's good that we drink filtered water, but everything else living in the lake must be at extreme risks during these days.

Yeah, the American fireworks are so much better than the Canadian ones, in my opinion.

Unless they are all done by private businesses I don't think it's extra money.
