First Year B. Tech
Hi there everyone, I'm a newbie and, to be honest, kinda of freaked out too. I'm starting in first year B. Tech though I'd like to move on to genetic eng. afterwards. Is there anyone who's gone through first year already that can tell me about it? PLEASE!

Welcome to the MI community and McMaster University ! We have a few B.Tech students on this site I've seen, so hopefully they can respond to your question.

That person is in their upper years in a B.Tech program I beleive even though it isn't the one you want to know about. Perhaps you can PM them for more information?

Hey, I just finished my first year in Btech. It's actually I really great stream to get into. You get the entire engineering aspect along with a business/management aspect as well. It's really hands on and if you keep working to understand the material, you'll do really well. Plus Btech kids are nuts, we know how to party :p

First year was pretty smooth for me. Your 'GEN TECH' courses are going to be really easy and the courses are pretty much the same for all first years so you'll have a lot of people to work with. If you want to move to genetic eng. you're probably in the bio stream meaning you'll have 2 more easy courses in Biology and Analytical Chem but look out for Math and Electricity, those ones are tough.
