First year choices, good idea to change considering time
Hey YOU macINSIDER,
I need help with something. I want to change my elective courses to a business field course. I don't think it is a good idea because I have a feeling it will conflict with some registration process, especially since I will be going to florida at the end of this week.

Can you tell me the possible risks in changing the courses?
I want to switch out of enviro classes and get two business courses. Will there be a conflict with me having to switch my WHOLE course around.

Or lets say I remove enviros, try to add business course but they are full, then meanwhile someone else gets into enviro and now I can't switch back.
Please enlighten me you geniuses!
Thank you

Well, I think the main problem you would encounter is that in general, students outside of the faculty of commerce aren't allowed to take business classes. You will most likely need to talk to the business department to see if they'll let you.

If you drop a course, there is always the risk you won't be able to get back in. You'll be able to check to see if the business courses are full or not first though, so that shouldn't be an issue for you.

It's possible that the classes you want to take won't fit into your schedule, you'll need to check the times listed in the timetable yourself though (or wait until timetables are available on August 9th).

Good luck!

The master timetable is available here: https://adweb.cis.mcmaster.ca /mtt/

As Andrew said, the first thing you should do is make sure you're actually allowed to take the courses you want to switch into. If you go to the course calendar http://registrar.mcmaster.ca /CALEN...ent/index.html and click on 'course listings', then the department you want, you can see the prerequisites for any courses you're interested in. If you're allowed to take the courses, check the master timetable to see if you can arrange it so that there are non-conflicting sections. If this is possible, go onto SOLAR and check if the business courses are available before dropping your enviro sci courses. If they are, then try to get the non-conflicting sections. If you can't get into non-conflicting sections because they're full, you should be able to talk to the instructional assistant or prof for the course to get moved into a non-conflicting section. This is usually, but not ALWAYS possible, so make sure you email the person asap.

I add my courses before dropping the ones I don't want anymore...
