First Year Life Sci Course Selection
I am entering Life Sci I in September and I am going to attempt to trasnfer into Health Science next year. The requirements for Health Science are 6 units in Biology and Chemistry.

The courses that I was looking to take are:

BIO 1A03 and 1M03
CHEM 1A03 and 1AA3
MATH 1LS3 and 1AA3
PHYSICS 1B03
PSYCH 1X03

I don't know whether I should take two electives (Econ, Kin, Astrology, etc), or take PHYSICS 1BB3 and PSYCH 1XX3.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Not too sure if you'll need Psych since you're planning on switching into Health Sci. But if those plans don't work out and you need something to fall back on, you might wanna consider taking Psych 1XX3 so that you'll be eligible for Honours Life Sci. It'll also open you up to some more upper year psych courses.

And if you're considering med school at all, you'll need Physics 1BB3.

Hey,

If you plan on taking any other psych courses in later years, you will need to take Psych 1XX3. As for physics, you can always take Physics 1BB3 in any other year you'd like. Math 1LS3 is followed by Math 1LT3, not Math 1AA3. Anyways, you don't need a full year of math so taking Math 1LS3 is good enough, but if you enjoy math, by all means take it for the entire year. I would recommend taking Psych 1XX3, only Math 1LS3, and then you'll have 2 electives left over and for those I recommend Econ 1B03 and Econ 1BB3. It's always good to have electives because your electives are usually classes that aren't as difficult and time consuming as your mandatory classes. Hope this helped

Keep your options open, since Health Science only accepts 20 students, you might want to look into a back-up program or two and try to fulfill their requirements with the remaining 2 courses that you have left. Also, Psych is a good idea since it's equivalent to the Health Sci Psychobiology course .
