First year move in res info?
I'm a first year student moving into whidden in september. When do we find out all of the specific details - how the move in will go, what time to arrive, where to show up, etc.
Also, isn't there a res handbook they distribute each year?
When should I receive all of this information?
Thanks!

Yay to Whidden! You should be receiving more information shortly. You'll be moving in on the 6th so that's just under a month away. Usually you'll move in at 8-9am ish until 12 or 12-4-5ish depending on which floor you're assigned. I think the residence handbook is actually given upon arrival.

Do res volunteers have to take your luggage/things up to your room while you get your key? Or are parents allowed to do that instead.
I only ask because I don't remembering them doing that for my sister when she went to Mac and I really don't want to risk losing my things!

If you have anything extremely valuable (ie. laptops/cameras) take those things up yourself. Otherwise, whatever you bring, will be taken up for you. Your parents are free to take things for you, but they'll have to lug it up stairs. As long as you label your things they should be alright, I've heard of only 1 case where someone's things went missing.

The reps bring everything up to your room while you get your key and get everything straightened away. Anything fragile or expensive that you may want to keep with your family and bring up yourself is up to your discretion. For example your computer.

Haha, I know what you mean. Someone asked that on Welcome Day, and they said it's okay, as long as it doesn't get too crowded. Hmm, maybe you'll have to take the stairs, since the elevators will be busy :(, like Cristina said.

You can bring stuff whenever you want, but if it Isn't in the assigned time then the reps won't be there to help you move in.
