I preferred taking organic chemistry during the school year so there was more time to absorb the information. As long as you time manage, you can easily do well even with a heavy course load.

Most people actually enjoy orgo in high school, is it that different in university that it becomes one of peoples' least favourite courses?

i actually think its hell because of the work load, and the memorizing, but most people I know didn't come to hate the subject itself. definitely all my friends who took orgo found it WAY more interesting than first year chem; especially the labs, they were exciting and interesting!
so no, i don't really think people come to stop liking it that much, its just the work that makes it 'hell'-ish
i'd suggest that if you enjoyed it in high school, take it in uni!

High school orgo is a joke. All it is is naming organic compounds. Orgo 2OA3 and 2OB3 are doing actual mechanisms and reactions and stuff. Figuring out what the products are when they give you the reactants and stuff. It is a lot harder than high school.

I've heard it gets pretty intense, but then again, all the commies I know now in first year, are way too relaxed. So it evens out

First year Commerce is pretty chill I'd say, but then again, you have to wait until second term to get a feel of what it's like. Comm 1E03 is a killer (if Rita Cossa teaches it), you'll probably get really low mark on the group report. I remember the range from our tutorial was like 20%-67% at the most for the group report. They will deduct marks for the smallest mistake possible (ie. having 2 spaces instead of 1 after a period). Not to scare you or anything

You probably need to double or triple the effort you used in first year in order to do well in Commerce II. It's a little intense because of all the Commerce courses you have to take, and the midterm/exam schedule. Last year I had Friday and Saturday midterms back to back for three consecutive weeks. On top of those midterms, we had to do other assignments, so you better manage your time REALLY well and do your readings as scheduled. I would suggest you take a really easy elective during second year in order to focus on core courses

Second year is intense. But once you get through it, you'll be okay.

0_0 I was always taught that it was supposed to be two spaces after a period.

I don't think it's like that in the Commerce program here when writing reports. But then again, the style and format of the report depends on the prof as well. Even little things like missing a period will get you at least 1 mark off.
