funeral and midterm
one of my family members died yesterday and the funeral is tommorow. i need to go to the funeral but i have a midterm tommorow. can i be excused from the midterm? what do i need to submit to get excused?

Hello, I am very sorry for your loss, a death in the family is one of the few acceptable reasons to miss a test according to the university. I'm pretty sure you will need a note from the funeral director in order to be excused.

Sorry to hear about your loss. As James mentioned, it's definitely one of the permitted excuses, but proof would definitely be required. I suggest you contact your associate dean's office to double check regarding any needed paperwork.

In my first year I went to engineering student services, so you can go to your equivalent, and they needed to see an obituary. Then you can get a missed work form and have your prof fill it out and decide where the marks should go or if you can do a rewrite.
