Getting to the airport
Hi everybody,

I'm heading to Vancouver on the 16th of May and my flight leaves out of Pearson at 7am so I'm wondering if anyone has any advice on how to get there without a car. I've looked at Greyhound, GO/TTC, the airways transit shuttle and some other things, but I'm finding the timing isn't great for the cheaper options and the pricing isn't great for the others...
Anyone know of any good ways?
Also, has anyone ever slept in an airport overnight? One of my options would be to get there at 11pm the night before but I'm not sure if I'm even allowed to do that...

I have slept overnight in airports before, including pearson, and I've never had any trouble, but do realize that you will need to find a way to sleep while still keeping an eye (or a hand) on your luggage. Though I have never had anything go missing, I'm sure it has happened to others.

If money is a priority, I'd say that going the night before is your best option.

When I had to go to Pearson to pick something up, I went and asked at compass and they gave me a specific Airport Ticket of some sorts. It Took me to Square One terminal and then from Square one there was a bus every 15 minutes to Pearson. It wasn't as complicated and as intimidating as it sounded at first(Since it was my first time on a GO Bus). I would definitely recommend asking the people at Compass!

The GO cost me $17 for a Two Way

I think the service from Square one to Pearson no longer exists. I checked with GO transit schedules and there's only Richmond Hill to Pearson. I believe the only GO transit service to Pearson is from York mills(toronto), and its not overnight.
TTC has overnight service to pearson till 5am-ish. You might also wanna check with Missisauga transit too.

I don't think it's possible for you to get to Pearson on a Sunday that early in the morning using the GO bus or Greyhound, there just isn't service at that time.

In fact on Saturday it'll probably be quite difficult as well since there are no GO buses from the Mac bus terminal to sq1 on the weekends. Using the GO/Mississauga transit to get to Pearson, you would probably have to start at Hamilton Go Centre and take the 18 GO bus to Aldershot, transfer to a GO train and get off at Port Credit. Take a Mississauga transit bus to Square One and transfer on to the 7N bus which takes you to Pearson. Total cost one way being ~$11.

There might be an easier way involving Greyhound but that's the only way I can think of for the weekend using the GO.

I also agree that the above idea sounds pretty good in terms of the most economic way of getting there. That really sucks that the Square One - Pearson GO bus doesn't run anymore, although the McMaster -Square One bus doesn't run on weekends anyway.

The only thing I would change is getting off at Long Branch (one stop after Port Credit and therefore slightly more expensive), as you could take the 5 northbound and then switch to a 7. You can use the Click n Ride Trip Planner to get exact times(http://www.mississauga.ca/portal/residents/publictransit).

I strongly recommend that you plan out your route exactly because Mississauga Transit generally runs much less frequently on the weekends. I think you still would have to sleep over at the airport since there still aren't any buses that run that late/early. The latest bus on Saturdays leaves Long Branch GO Station at 12 am, and the earliest bus on Sundays leaves at 8:18 am -_-.

Alternatively, you can go to Union Station, take the subway to Kipling and then hop on the Airport Rocket to Terminal 1/3. It takes around 2 hours.
