Facebook has more users than Gmail?

You do realize once it gets launched, you're gonna spend time on G+ even when you're searching using Google.

Facebook is nearing 700 million users, Gmail has about 200 million.

Keep in mind Myspace was sold for 580 million a few years ago.. Pretty shitty investment if you're down 550 million bucks on your original investment.

Yeah, but Google won't be able to tap all those users and topple the Facebook monster. I'm hoping Google+ becomes semi-popular, so we get another 5 years of fun social networking before everyone's parents sign up and ruin it.

Will - yeah, I know, but something is better than nothing.

Rudiger - The same could be said about FB and MySpace back in the day. MySpace was more visited than google, and look where it's at now.

G+ will succeed, for sure. They dont even have to bother overtaking facebook, hell, even Zuckerberg has G+ account already.

The only difference is that Facebook actually offered something different than my space, Google+ is a damn near carbon copy of FB that's missing a few features and is generally a bit more complicated. That doesn't really sound like a recipe for success.

Google+ is going to need something to really separate it from FB if it wants to succeed.

That's assuming you stay logged on.

Not everyone uses iGoogle, not everyone uses Gmail, and you don't need to stay signed in to use the search engine or maps...

A bunch of people do, but they seem to have killed both the legitimate invite system and the work around people were using

Google is quickly dominating every internet niche e_e I'm a bit concerned about this and what it means for competition.

sometimes I feel like google are just playing around, like the other day when they were bidding for nortel's patents with mathematical constants (ex $3.14159 billion). Makes you wonder, what's their end goal?

Their goal is having more money, and when they have that they'll want even more, so there is no end goal.

If the Google+ API and XML is even slightly easier to use than FBML and Facebook's Graph API, web developers will jump for it very...very...quickly .
