GPA Summer School Grade
Does the grade one gets in summer school count towards their GPA for next year?
In other words, if i got a grade of 11 in Chemistry doing the course in summer school, would this course be used in calaculating my average GPA for 1st semester(Sept-Dec)? Second semester?(Jan-April)?

As far as I know, summer schools grades DO NOT count towards your sessional GPA for the next year. However, they do count in your CGPA (Cumulative GPA).

The summer school course is a seperate session and the grade does not count in the sessional average of any semester/regular year courses. It will however be counted in your cumulative average.

That is correct, but only if you take the course outside of McMaster.
You also have to go through the process of getting letters of permissions before and then after getting a transcript and sending it to your associate dean's office.

If one takes a course outside of McMaster University and get a mark higher than, I believe, 60% you get a pass. Else you get a fail.
So you are correct. If you take a course outside of McMaster you get a pass or fail. I believe the original poster was asking about a summer school course taken at McMaster.

There are 4 sessions to a calendar year: Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall. So whenever you take a course it counts towards the sessional average of that session and your cumulative average.

What's the significance of the cumulative average? I assume that means for all 4 years (or however long your program is). But why does it matter?

Most graduate/professional schools use your CA in order to determine admission.

It really does suck that you have to keep working extremely hard at it, just to maintain a good cGPA
