My question is about coming to Mac for Life Sciences I and then specializing in upper years. Will doing that be looked at as decent by grad schools? I suppose what I'm asking is if McMaster has a good reputation for lifesciences/specializations within the life sciences.

I am planning on pursuing a Masters (probably in something along the lines of biochemistry or microbiology) and maybe even a PhD if I can manage.

If you are planning on doing biochemistry then you should look into applying to biochemistry after first year and not staying in life sciences. As for microbiology, I'm not sure if there is a program or specialization dedicated towards that but we do have microbiologists within the biology department which you should get to know and perhaps get a job/volunteer position during your 2nd or 3rd year.

There are also biochem labs that do a lot of microbio work.
