I think the only situation when a parent should be able to see your grades is when they are paying for your education. Why should parents continue to pay for their children's education if their children are not taking their education seriously (doing the work). After all the parents are making that investment in their children, they should have the right to pull their investment if it is bad.

I do not believe the school should provide the grades to the parents, but the parents should not pay their children's tuition until they see their grades.

However parents need to be realistic when it comes to their expectations when it comes to grades, especially in university.

Apparently the school use to mail grades home before grade reports became available on Mugsi. Thankfully everything's login-protected online now, right? =P

I agree, to an extent. If parents knew how badly their children were doing in school, they would pressure you into taking it more seriously, or cut off the wasteful spending, LOL.

I know mine would pester me into stop doing stupid things and get some homework done when I'm at home.

My parents know my grades. I'd be more inclined to tell them when I did bad as I'd be sulking around the house for days.

My parents have never asked to see any of my grades from university. They don't even know when I have tests and exams. I pay for school myself though, so my grades don't affect them much.
